Greene, the director of Parks and Recreation, told a room full of seniors Monday at the current Senior Center the new center they have been promised for some time was “slow coming out of the ground,” and described the process “like taking a sow’s ear and making a silk purse.”
Greene, along with County Manager William Wilson Jr., updated the seniors on the status of the new center.
“We told you this day would come,” Wilson said. “You didn’t believe it, but it will be done and it will be fabulous.”
The new center, in the old Cook’s shopping center, will have rooms for quiliting, shuffleboard, exercise, computers, arts and crafts, billiards, a banquet room with catering kitchen, and a room with dance floor, with springs underneath “so it’s not so hard on your knees,” Greeme said.
