STOCKBRIDGE — The Spalding Lady Jaguars softball team lost to the Locust Grove Lady Wildcats Thursday afternoon for the second time this week, falling by the score of 9-1 in the Region 4-AAAA Tournament held at Moseley Park. The Lady Jags lost their second tourney game and are now eliminated.

Despite the loss, the No. 7 seed Lady Jags (11-11) will be the third seed from Region 4 in the Class AAAA state playoffs next week, due to their 12-4 win over Eagle’s Landing in the late game Wednesday. No. 2 seed Locust Grove, which beat Spalding by the same 9-1 score on Tuesday, was playing No. 1 seed Woodland-Stockbridge for the Region 4-AAAA championship at press time.

On Thursday, Zorria “Zulu” Mann doubled to center for Spalding and her teammate Lora Rape singled her to third. Mann eventually scored minutes later for Spalding’s only run against Locust Grove.

Spalding 12, ELHS 4 (Wednesday):

Spalding infielder McKenleigh Kilgore smashed a home run to lead the Lady Jags to the big win over No. 3 seed Eagle’s Landing High late Wednesday evening. The win for Spalding knocked ELHS out of the tournament and into the fourth seed in the state playoffs.
