The Griffin Police Department (GPD) responded to a location on Circus Street Tuesday at about 11:15 p.m. in reference to a robbery that had already taken place. As police officers arrived at the scene, they made contact with the 20-year-old victim, who was treated by Spalding Regional EMS for a panic attack.

Asked by police to describe what had happened, the victim stated that she got off work on West McIntosh Road at about 10 p.m. that night. When she couldn’t find a ride home, she began walking home. At about 11 p.m., as she was walking on West Cherry Street and North Eighth Street, talking to her mother on the phone, she noticed two black males standing in the roadway, hollering at her to get her attention. The victim said that she ignored the males and continued walking along West Cherry Street.

According to a GPD incident report, two black males then approached her from behind as she was walking on the sidewalk in front of Rising Star Baptist Church. The victim stated that the males grabbed her from behind, though she was able to break loose from them, running all the way home from thereon.

The males reportedly snatched her work apron, which contained $80.

One of the suspects was described as dark-skinned, approximately 28 to 30 years of age, about 6 feet tall, heavyset, bald-headed with a full beard and wearing blue jeans. The other suspect was described as light-skinned, about 19 to 21 years of age, about 6 feet tall, slim-built, and wearing blue jeans, a black jacket and Air Jordan tennis shoes.

Police officers searched the area of West Cherry Street and North Eighth Street several times throughout the night but could not locate anyone in the area. The incident is still being investigated.

In another incident, police assisted a 35-year-old female who came to police headquarters on Poplar Street Tuesday at about 5:45 p.m. to file an indecent exposure report.

According to a GPD incident report, the female stated that her 71-year-old co-worker exposed his genitals to her while at work. The female further stated that her co-worker had been injured in the groin while on the job and was out on worker’s compensation. When he came in to the workplace after his surgery to turn in paperwork, he unbuttoned his pants while the female was looking over his paperwork to expose his testicles to her.

Although no one else was in the room at the time of the incident, the female told police that she felt a report should be made. Police officers did a report on the incident and said they would follow up on the situation, as the case remains an open investigation.
