The Griffin Police Department (GPD) responded to Broadway Deli and Grocery on Broadway Street Saturday at about 6:30 p.m. in reference to a dispute between a clerk and a customer. When officers arrived at the scene, they made contact with the store owner, who said that a customer — Coren Ellis, 27, of Griffin — threw ice on one of his clerks.

Police officers found Ellis in the roadway behind the grocery store.

Ellis, who had an active criminal trespass warning for the grocery store, admitted to having been inside the store but denied throwing ice on the clerk. When police told him that there were witnesses and video evidence regarding the incident, Ellis replied that he wanted to talk to his accuser himself.
