According to a GPD incident report, the victim stated that her boyfriend — later identified as 62-year-old Melvin Tarver, of Griffin — had pulled out a knife, pointed it at her and said he was going to cut her.
Police found an open knife lying on the bed of the bedroom, and a witness reportedly confirmed the victim’s statement.
The victim further stated that she and Tarver had been arguing all night, while police determined — based on the odor coming from their breaths — that all three subjects were highly intoxicated. Both the victim and the witness were unable to write statements at the time due to being intoxicated.
