There will be free candy, a 50/50 drawing, prizes, contests and individuals can also dress up for Halloween. Admission is free but there is a registration fee of $10 for the cars.

BASKETBALL REGISTRATION: The Spalding Basketball Association is holding registration for the upcoming season from 10 a.m., until 2 p.m., on Saturdays through Nov. 3.
Registration takes place at Volunteer Park on Oct. 6 and at Fairmont Park thereafter.
BEAR ASKEW TOURNEY: Deadline is 6 p.m., Oct. 29 or the first 96 golfers to register for the second annual Bear Askew Golf tournament to benefit Stepping Stones. The tournament will be held 9 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 4 at the Griffin City Golf Course.
Entry fee for the four-man Fort Lauderdale is $60 per person which includes social, green fee, cart and awards luncheon. Teams will be drawn by the golf committee. The social for the event will be at 6:30 p.m., Nov. 3 at VFW Post 5448. The awards luncheon will also be held at the post following the event. Golfers, spouses or dates are invited to both of these functions.
Stepping Stones will be selling hole sponsorships. Please support this organization. The entry fee can be paid at the VFW Post of to any member of the Golf Committee. CORRECTION: The Griffin Daily News ran a report that incorrectly listed the final score and scored touchdown in a recreation league football game Oct. 13. Joseph Parks and Jordan Parks scored a touchdown and an extra point each to lead the Tide to a 14-12 victory against the Gators in Piedmont Football League 5/6 Division action. Kenneth Stephens scored a pair of touchdowns to lead the Gators.

GSHF NOMINATIONS: Do you know of a stellar athlete, coach or contributor in any sports arena who deserves recognition? The Georgia Sports Hall of Fame (GSHF) is calling for nominations of individuals, who may be living or deceased, to be considered for induction into the Hall of Fame. Nomination categories are 1.) Athlete, 2.) Coach/Manager, 3.) Contributor, 4.) Senior, or 5.) Multi-Sport/Combination.
All nominees go through a three-tiered screening process by committees composed of GSHF Authority members and representatives from across the state in all areas of sports.
