Karen Beth Luckett (Kay), 68, died Nov. 3, 2012 at Franklin Health Care Center in Rocky Mount, VA. Born in Canton, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Gustus Luckett and Georgia Craig Luckett. Karen was a long time resident of Columbus, GA., and an active member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Columbus. Although Karen was injured in a schoolyard accident when she was 13 and was handicapped, she lived a full life and did not let her handicap stop her. She was a published writer and made beautiful pottery.

She was predeceased by her brother, Michael Luckett and is survived by her sisters, Georgia Champion of Milner, GA., and Mary Thurmond of Smith Mountain Lake, VA.; nieces and nephew, Rob Thurmond (Tori) of San Diego, CA.; Kara Thurmond (Andrew) of Catskill, N.Y.; Stacey Brown (Michael) of Richmond, VA.; grandnephews, Brennen and Rhody Brown of Richmond, VA.; grandnieces, Grace and Claire Thurmond of San Diego; uncle and aunt, David and Mable Craig of Stockbridge, GA., many cousins and special friends.

Services will be Monday, Nov. 12, at 11 a.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Columbus, GA. Interment will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice.

Ms. Claudia Dansby, age 79, of 619 Northside Drive, Griffin, passed Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at Spalding Regional Medical Center. Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date by McDowell’s Funeral Home, Inc., 305 N. Hill St.

Mr. John M. Crawley Jr., age 70, of Miami, Florida, formerly of Williamson, Georgia, passed Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012 at Macedonia Church of God in Christ, 14600 Bethune Drive, Miami, Florida. Elder Earnest Crawley will render the eulogy. Interment will follow in Graceland Memorial Park, Miami. Services entrusted to Jay’s Funeral Home.

Mr. Larry E. Bland, of Griffin, passed away Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012. Funeral services will be announced later. Miller’s Family Mortuary, 332 E. Chappell St. 770-228-4077.

Mrs. Helen Chappell age 87, of Hampton, Georgia, passed away, Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012 at the Westbury Health and Rehab Center in McDonough, Ga.
