The Spalding County Little League (SCLL) teamed up with the local Cancer Warriors Support Organization (CWSO) for a Colors of Cancer Day at the Wyomia Tyus Baseball Complex last month in Griffin to raise money for the CWSO. Local teams participated with cancer survivors throwing out the first pitch of each game. Warriors received a T-shirt and a signed baseball from the team they represented.

“This was a fun-filled day with Survivors and Warriors (those currently in treatments) having the opportunity to participate,” said Toni Grogan, Founder of the CWSO.

There were Zumba demonstrations, a bake sale, raffle, pie in the face contest and other fun things for the children to do.

“We can’t thank the SCLL enough for putting on this event for us”, said Grogan.

In all, the SCLL raised $2000 for the Cancer Warriors.

The funds raised will be used for three different families for Christmas.

Turner Grogan, Executive Director explained, "These families usually have a mom, a dad or a child that is going through treatments, which makes it hard for these families to have a Christmas.

“We choose families that are registered with CWSO, based on financial need,” said Grogan.

“It is an honor to be able to help these families with Christmas,” stated Mr. Grogan. “We can’t thank the Spalding County Little League enough for hosting the Colors of Cancer day for our Warriors!”
