First National Bank robbed Friday

Griffin Police are investigating the Friday robbery of the First National Bank.

According to police, officers responded at 11:58 a.m., Friday to a report of a bank robbery of the First National Bank branch at 1103 Zebulon Road. Witnesses reportedly told police a slender black male entered the bank wearing a dark ski type mask and demanded money.

Capt. Dwayne Jones said the suspect did not display a weapon. Three bank employees were present at the time of the robbery, Jones said, and no bank employees were injured during the robbery.

Jones said the suspect was wearing a black t-shirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes. The susoect is between 5 foot, 8 inches and 6-0 and about 160 pounds, Jones said.

The robber fled the bank on foot in the direction of Airport Road with an undisclosed amount of cash. He may have left the area in a blue Chrysler PT Cruiser, police said, Friday.
