Investigators with the Griffin Police Department (GPD) on Monday arrested a 46-year-old black male in connection with Friday’s robbery of First National Bank of Griffin.

Jamie Lanier Colquitt was arrested at his residence in Meansville as a result of a joint investigation among the GPD, the Pike County Sheriff’s Office and the Zebulon Police Department, according to a GPD press release.

Colquitt was identified with the assistance of the public and the collaborative efforts of the GPD’s Criminal Investigation Division.

Colquitt is accused of robbing First National Bank’s branch at 1103 Zebulon Rd. Friday shortly before noon. Witnesses reported at the time that the suspect entered the bank wearing a dark ski-type mask and demanded money.

He did not display a weapon and fled the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. A portion of the suspected proceeds of the robbery was recovered along with a blue Chrysler PT Cruiser.

According to GPD investigators, a robbery by intimidation warrant has been issued for Colquitt, who is also a suspect in several other crimes within the City of Griffin.

Colquitt is currently in the custody of the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, as there are several charges against him related to incidents that took place in the PCSO’s jurisdiction.
