Helen Phillips, 89, of Griffin, entered into the loving embrace of our Lord in his Holy Kingdom on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012. A beloved matriarch, Helen loved her family and dedicated her life to them. She blessed everyone who knew her with her generosity and her giving heart. She believed in keeping the family ties strong and she always stayed connected to her extended family in Georgia and beyond.

She was preceded in death by her parents, eight siblings, and one son, Rickey Lamar. She is survived by five children, Dr. Geraldine Jackson, of Griffin; Mr. Herman Phillips (Sue), of Detroit, Mich.; Mrs.Lutricia Fergeson, of Griffin; Dr.Linda Hollomon, of Stone Mountain; and Mr. Ron Phillips (Karen), of Stone Mountain; grandchildren, Cyrus, Patrice, Rachel, Marvinda, Helen Nicole, Reginald, Galyn, Wesley, Karon, Austin, Tyree, Marrick, and Tyron. Mother Helen Phillips will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012 at noon at First United Methodist Churc,h 1401 Maple Drive, Griffin, 30224

Viewing will be from 9 a.m.-noon, Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012 at the church.



Jewel Dixon Fambro

Jewel Dixon Fambro was born on May 18, 1937 to the late Lillian Harps Dixon in Birmingham, Alabama. On Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, an angel descended from Heaven to call Jewel Fambro to eternal rest in the arms of her Almighty Father.

Jewel loved helping people and people loved Jewel. She was always there to lend a helping hand. She took great pride in her family and church family. At a young age, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and Lord and joined Macedonia Baptist Church. She sang in the choir and was a member of the Mother Board. Jewel received her education through the Spalding County School System. She enjoyed going to the Senior Center, traveling, fishing, bingo and other fun activities.

She leaves to mourn with loving and cherished memories, one daughter; Christine Trice and Larry Johnson, one son; Ernest Dixon and a very special friend, Ann L. Champion.

A celebration of life service for Jewel Fambro will be conducted on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church in Griffin. The Rev. Gregory Tyler Sr. will officiate. Interment will follow in Griffin Memorial Gardens.
