LOCAL SPORTS BRIEFS: 3 players in Georgia-Florida All-Star football game

GEORGIA-FLORIDA ALL-STARS: Three local players including Spalding High’s Ben Allen and Larry McCord as well as Griffin High’s Nhigel Phillips, will be playing in the Georgia-Florida All-Star game at 6 p.m. today at Boca Raton High School in Boca Raton, Fla.

Allen played defensive back and McCord linebacker this season for the Jags (2-7-1), while Phillips played defensive line for the Bears (9-2).

The game is scheduled to be televised on Fox/SportsSouth.

LITTLE LEAGUE REGISTRATION: Registration for Spring 2013 season is going through Feb. 9. Also, if you register online and pay in full you will receive a discount through Feb. 9. If you need to register in person, you can do so at AMBUCS Park between 10 a.m., and 2 p.m., on Jan. 5.

Fee to play this year is $125 for baseball with the exception of 3/4-year-old division which is $85.

Tryouts and Drafts dates are Feb. 23 for baseball and Feb. 16 for softball.

Opening day is March 16 for baseball and March 9 for softball.
