The appointments for Municipal Court and city attorney also included the funding for the positions.
Municipal Court Judge William G. Johnson and Municipal Court Solicitor A. Ried Turner III were reappointed, with each position budgeted at $16,500. Municipal Court Clerk Yolanda Walker was reappointed at a budgeted salary of $37.294.40, and administrative secretary Judy Flournoy was reappointed as municipal elections superintendent and municipal registrar, with a budget of $754 plus regular salary.
City Attorney Drew Whalen also was reappointed with the position budgeted at $96,000.
For the Griffin-Spalding County Hospital Authority, Don Crider Jr. was appointed to replace Jim Dunaway Sr., and Commissioner Ryan McLemore was reappointed. For the Griffin-Spalding Development Authority, Commissioner Joanne Todd was reappointed as was Daa’ood Amin, with Billy McDaniel appointed to replace his late wife, Martha McDaniel.
For the Griffin Housing Authority, Shirley Caldwell and Commissioner Cynthia Ward were reappointed. The resident appointment was tabled pending a recommendation from Director Bob Dull, who asked the commission to postpone the appointment.
For the Airport Advisory Board, Roger Miller, Keith Smith and Commissioner Dick Morrow were reappointed. The board has not met since the creation and appointment of the Griffin Spalding Airport Authority, which Morrow and Smith also serve on with Morrow as chairman. He said “hopefully we can sunset this board (the Advisory Board) by June 30.”
The city appointed six members to the Griffin-Spalding Area Transportation Committee including Morrow and City Commissioner Doug Hollberg and citizen at-large appointees Michelle Cannon and Neal Bonds. Also appointed were Griffin Fire-Rescue Capt. James Clinkscales for the fire chief (or designee) and Police Capt. Dwayne Jones for the police chief (or designee).
For the Three Rivers Regional Commission board of directors, Todd was reappointed and Charles Jones was appointed as citizen appointee, replacing Freddie Phillips. Commissioner Shaheer Beyah was appointed to the Spalding County Board of Health and Commissioner Cora Flowers was appointed to the Griffin-Spalding E-911 Board.
Todd was appointed to the Spalding County Collaborative Authority along with Sgt. Sam Parks (city law enforcement officer appointment) and Eula Redding as the city consumer appointment. Todd was also reappointed to the Workforce Investment Council.
Hollberg was appointed to the Griffin Downtown Council, replacing Beyah.
Morrow was reappointed to the Griffin-Spalding Chamber of Commerce board of directors. For the Griffin Main Street Program Advisory Board, Commissioner Cynthia Ward, business owner Garrett Massey, local architect Paul Cropsey and neighborhood resident Daa’ood Amin were reappointed.
For the city’s Planning and Zoning Board, David Castile and Greg McLarin were reappointed. Bruce Ballard and Nat Doughtie were reappointed to the Downtown Development Authority, and Charles Penny was reappointed to the Historic Preservation Commission.
Patty Beckham was reappointed to the Griffin Spalding Land Bank Authority with Shirley Gardner appointed to replace Jim Smith. Smith is now a county appointee, replacing Gardner, who had been a county appointee.
For the Griffin Tree Board, arborist Jamie Arrington and landscape architect John Stover were reappointed, as were Ann Larson, Janet Smith, Hannah Day, Ann Milner and McLemore. The District 5 appointment was postponed and the at-large appointment was changed.
