Mrs. Carolyn Faye Smith, 73, of Griffin, passed away on Monday, January 14, 2013 at Spalding Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Smith was born in Brooks, Georgia on May 8, 1939. She is preceded in death by her parents, Plez Cobb and Pauline Ballard Cobb. Mrs. Smith formerly worked at United Cotton Goods and a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, James Smith; children, Judy Blankenship, James Lawayne (Bug) Smith, Ray Roger Rivers, Keith Rivers, Tammy Hogg, Shani Hamel and husband, Lance; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Sybil Chambers, brother, Ray Cobb; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mrs. Carolyn Faye Smith will be on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Reverend John Nance will officiate. Interment will follow in Westwood Gardens.

Ms. Virginia Brannon

Ms. Virginia Louise Haynie Brannon, 75, passed away on Friday, January 11, 2013 at Tranquility Hospice.

Ms. Brannon was born on March 5, 1937. She is preceded in death her parents, Clarence Stillwill Price and Ida Louise Scarbrough Price. Ms. Brannon was retired from Smead Paper Co. and a member of DeVotie Baptist Church.

Survivors include daughter, Lyn Ball and husband, Lamar of Marietta; son, Chip Carlyle and wife Julie of Jackson; grandchildren, Amy Christy and husband John of Douglasville, Randi Ahlstrom and husband, D.J. of Jackson, Deanna Stells and husband Billy of Ellijay, Angie Sanchez and husband, Rod of Powder Springs, Toni Ball of Rockmart, Dayton Carlyle of Jackson, Dakota Carlyle of Jackson; brother, Robert Price; sisters, Martha Adams, Frances White, Joan Perdue, Edna Woeste; aunt, Betty Greene; 4 great grandsons, 2 great granddaughters, many nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Mrs. Dorothy C. Morgan, of Griffin, passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2013. She worked at NEC and Panasonic for a number of years as a supervisor and at Publix Bakery until she retired.

Mrs. Morgan was born in Fulton County. She is preceded in death by her parents, Irene L. Carson and Gus T. Carson.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, William T. Morgan; brothers and sister-in-law, John Carson, Jack and Betty Carson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Annie Bell and Hugh Nelms, Martha and Terry Ivey; several nieces and nephews.
