City announces reopening of Sixth Street bridge

The City of Griffin is very pleased to announce the Sixth Street Bridge will re-open on February 12.

A ceremonial first walk and ride will cross the bridge starting at 4:00 pm, followed by a ribbon cutting and small ceremony in the Park at Sixth.

If you would like to be part of the pedestrian procession, meet at the intersection of Chappell and Sixth. City and County Commissioners will cross first, followed by the Generals Griffin and any other pedestrians who would like to participate. This will be followed by bicycles and City and County vehicles.

If you would just like to see the Ribbon Cutting and Ceremony, please meet at the intersection of Sixth and Solomon Street. The procession will pause to cut the ribbon, then proceed to the Park at Sixth to hear history of the bridge and its importance to our community.

The rain day will be Thursday, February 14, at 4:00 pm. The decision to postpone will be announce no later than noon on Tuesday. If there is a postponement, all events will follow the same schedule on Thursday.
