— It seems that deer antler spray is now the most popular performance-enhancing drug. We should give our local officials some of this stuff.
— I just want to thank Lindsey and Lauren at the Hope Health Clinic for being great people and always caring for me when I come in.
— So American Airlines and US Airways are going to merge. I remember when America West merged with US Airways. Since the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that corporations are people, I want the district attorney to charge US Airways with polygamy.
— It seems those who can correct this don’t care about the motoring public or the bad image for Spalding County. I speak of those railroad crossings on Highway 16. They are hard on your struts, shocks, tire alignments and balance. I am sure those involved with road repair and paving can correct this ongoing problem, if anyone cares.
— I think it is a good idea for gay youths and gay adult leaders to be allowed in the Boy Scouts. Every organization needs to have some happy members.
— What happened to the highly touted Spalding County weather alerts? I have signed up for both my cellphone and email and did not get one notice all day Wednesday when the severe thunderstorms and tornado watches were issued for Spalding County. How is this supposed to be better than sirens, if no one sends out the alerts?
— Why has not the city or at least the Downtown Council fixed our $40,000 clock at the intersection of Hill and Solomon? This clock has been broken for months. If it is not going to be fixed, take it down. Instead of being added beauty to downtown, it now detracts from all of downtown. Being right only twice a day is not something of which to be proud.
— Since the Griffin Country Club course is no longer used for golf, someone should spread some dirt on the fairways. Then, when it rains, people with pickup trucks would be able to use the course for mud bogging.
— Mr. Blank, I wish you and the suck-up politicians would move the Falcons out of town. The sooner the better. Our best football is played on Saturday, including UGA, Georgia Tech, Georgia State, Georgia Southern, Auburn and, of course, Alabama.
— It says a lot for Griffin, Ga., when a new grocery store opens and there are no empty parking spaces for two weeks.
— Who can be riding the bus to work? With six buses, that makes six people. This is nothing but a glorified taxi service at taxpayers’ expense. The government didn’t get their choo choo train to drain public funds, so now they want to do it this way. The city is just foaming at the mouth to get the “matching federal funds.” Where does this insanity stop?
— Since the country club closed, we won’t need the new airport. No company is going to move to here. Nowhere for corporate jet types to live and eat. That settled that problem.
— Do you honestly think a Sun Cityite is going to lower themselves to ride a city bus to downtown via North Hill? What are they supposed to do when they get there?
— How many General Griffin statues do we need downtown? Isn’t one enough?
— I would say that Griffin is full of village idiots, but that would be an insult to village idiots.
— Teachers and principals, with your $40,000 to $100,000 salaries and pensions, did you know, we custodians typically make $10,000 to $18,000 per year. $4 per month is all the retirement we get and we pay that. We are way under-staffed and overworked. You should teach your kids about character and make them clean up after themselves and have more respect for your school custodians.
— If the government really wanted to save money there would never have been a new bridge built over the railroad tracks in downtown Griffin that obviously is not needed.
— I get tired of people bashing the federal government. The federal government isn’t perfect and makes mistakes, but when I look around and see what the state and local governments are doing, they are not any better. These so-called “leaders” around here are just a bunch of local-yokel goobers.
— If you are not re-elected and only receive 23 votes, I think that would make you a failure.
— Have you noticed that the people who can least afford to buy lottery tickets are the ones who buy the most tickets? The lottery is a tax on the stupid.
— Chip Rogers resigned the Georgia Legislature in disgrace, Governor Deal got him a job at Georgia Public Broadcasting at $150,000, nearly three times what others make there. Georgia got a bad Deal.
