The win snapped a two-game losing streak for Region 4-AAAA Div. B last-place Spalding (12-12), while Region 4-AAAA Div. A last-place Stockbridge (2-20) ended its season losing its second in a row and for the sixth time in the last seven games.
Spalding, which started the game shooting a pair of technical free throws — both which Veronica Anderson made — because Stockbridge wore the wrong colored jerseys, led 12-4 at the end of the first quarter, 24-15 at the half and 36-28 heading into the fourth quarter.
MIracle Johnson scored a game-high 17 points to lead the Lady Tigers.
Spalding now advances to another elimination game against Region 4-AAAA Div. B fourth-place North Clayton (11-14) 4 p.m., Monday. The Lady Jags were swept by North Clayton during the regular season, losing 53-38 on Jan. 15 at North Clayton and 58-51 on Feb. 1 at home.
The winner of that game advances to a state qualifying-round game at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday against Region 4-AAAA Div. A first-place Woodland-Stockbridge (24-1) at Woodland High School in Stockbridge.
