The win streak ends at two for the Griffin High Lady Bears soccer team.

Ashley Fleck and Mikella Rodriguez scored two goals apiece, leading the Eagle’s Landing Lady Golden Eagles to a 5-0 win over Griffin Tuesday evening in Region 4-AAAA action at Memorial Stadium.

Griffin falls to 2-5 overall and 2-2 in region play while ELHS improves to 3-1, 2-1.

Fleck struck first for the Lady Golden Eagles, scoring the team’s first goal on a penalty kick at the 11:33 mark of the first half. Griffin keeper Rayne Pilgrim managed to get her hands on the ball, but it caromed off her mitts and into the net for the 1-0 ELHS lead.

It was all EL, all the time after that goal. The first goal seemed to fire the Lady Golden Eagles up while Griffin seemed to lack a spark after falling behind.

Rodriguez scored a goal two minutes after Fleck’s goal for the 2-0 lead and Kayla Deloach scored at the 5:58 mark for the 3-0 lead, which stayed that way at halftime.

Griffin senior Christina Odom dribbled the ball in EL territory for a shot opportunity late in the first half, but an EL defender did a good job of shielding Odom down field and that allowed EL keeper Katie Hill to fall on the ball and end the threat.

It was all EL in the second half as Fleck scored her second goal for the 4-0 lead and Rodriguez scored again for the final 5-0 margin.

Pilgrim had 23 saves for the Lady Bears in the match.

The Lady Bears are back in action Friday at 5:30 p.m. against region foe Locust Grove at Memorial Stadium.
