Three local baseball games were rained out Monday and another was cancelled Tuesday from the water left behind by Monday’s rain. No fewer than four local schools — Griffin High, Spalding High, Griffin Christian High School and Skipstone Academy — had to alter plans.

Griffin, which was scheduled to host Eagle’s Landing in Region 4-AAAA action Monday, has since rescheduled its game against the Golden Eagles. First pitch is now 5:55 p.m., Thursday at The Bears’ Den, according to Bears head coach Kevin Mobley.

Spalding, meanwhile, has not rescheduled its non-region game at Sandy Creek in Tyrone, according to Jaguars head coach Mickey Moody.

Griffin Christian, scheduled to host Skipstone Academy in non-GISA action on Monday, has not rescheduled.

“We were talking about maybe having a doubleheader the next time we played (April 11), but that was only tentative and not confirmed,” said Crusaders head coach David Hammond.

The Crusaders, however, have rescheduled Tuesday’s GISA Region 4-AA game at Furtah Prep in Acworth — which was still unplayable 24 hours after Monday’s rain — for March 21. It wouldn’t have made a difference even if Tuesday’s game was scheduled to be played in Griffin.

“Even our field is unplayable,” said Hammond.
