The Spalding High tennis teams kept on chugging with a sweep Tuesday at home against visiting Dutchtown High School in Region 4-AAAA action, the Jags and Lady Jags each with 5-0 victories

Scoring points for the Jags (9-2, 5-0 region) in singles were Brett Piland (8-1), Colby Willis (8-0) and Hez Apperson (8-0) in singles. Andrew Winter and Daniel Blake won No. 1 doubles 8-1, while Barrett Lavender and Benjamin Parker won No. 2 doubles 8-1 to make it a clean sweep for the Jags.

Scoring points for the Lady Jags in singles were Hayley Bair (8-1), McKenzie Dallas (8-5) and Caroline Hearn (8-1). Margaret Copeland and Garrett Mixon won 8-1 at No. 1 doubles, while Jessica Howell and Cora Pursley won 8-1 at No. 2 doubles.

Spalding continues its season with a match 4 p.m., today at Jonesboro before coming home Thursday to take on Upson-Lee in another 4 p.m., start. Both matches are region affairs.

Results from Griffin’s non-region match Tuesday at home against Newnan were unavailable at press time.
