A Griffin man and a 14-year-old boy were injured in a two-vehicle accident Friday night on Georgia Highway 16.

Charles Dowd, 48, of Griffin, who was driving a Mitsubishi Montero, pulled into the path of a tractor-trailer being driven by K. Kurlinski, 35, of Griffin, according to Georgia State Patrol Cpl. Sam Swain.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Highway 16 and Rover-Zetella Road in western Spalding County at about 6:20 p.m.

Dowd was transported by air ambulance to the Atlanta Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, Swain said. The boy, a passenger in the Mitsubishi Montero, was transported by air ambulance to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston.

Kurlinski was not injured.

Charges are pending, Swain said.

We were passing by and saw the smoke. We though the truck was on fire. When we saw the small truck in front of the eighteen wheeler we immediately pulled over to pray with the victims in the small SUV. My sister is a pastor and she prayed with both of the victims until help arrive. My brother and I was praying that the Lord would spare their lives. Please email and let us know how they are doing. Our prayer are with you and your families. rfloyd@tiftschools.com
