Officials from the Pike County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) responded to this location at approximately 4:30 p.m. Upon arrival, deputies located 60-year-old Jimmie Burousas Jr. who was found sitting in his vehicle in the driveway, deceased.
Mr. Burousas cause of death has not yet been determined, as authorities are awaiting autopsy results from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab.
Upon further investigation, deputies discovered a white female, whose identity is being withheld at this time, also at the scene. She was lying on the ground outside her residence, suffering from injuries incurred during the attack.
The female victim was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta for treatment of nonlife-threatening injuries. The PCSO reported Thursday that she had been treated and released from the hospital.
Investigators are currently following up on “several leads” in the case.
The suspects are believed to be a black male, approximately 6 feet 3 to 4 inches tall with a large build. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a black shirt.
The second suspect is a white male with blue eyes, approximately 5 feet 8 to 10 inches tall, weighing approximately 150 to 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt with a white design.
The PCSO said the suspects may possibly be travelling in a white Pontiac Trans Am.
“We believe this to be an isolated incident and that the victims had some connection or knowledge of the suspects,” said Maj. David Neal, of the PCSO Criminal Investigation Division (CID).
