Mrs. Betty Penland Hegedus, age 77, of Williamson, passed away Monday, July 6, 2009.

She was born in Jefferson County, Ga., to the late William Carlyle and Carrie Satterfield Carlyle. She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and loved her grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, William, Robert and James Carlyle; and sisters, Latrell Archer and Joyce Lee.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Edward and Debbie Penland, of Griffin, Randolph and Norma Penland, of Suwanee, Betty Jo Penland, of Lawrenceville, Carolyn and Robert Harris, of New Market, Ala., and Stephen and Graciela Hegedus, of Davie, Fla.; companion, Noah Hobgood; sister and brother-in-law, Ernestine and Ben Prickett, of Virginia Beach, Va.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Hegedus will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 9, 2009, in the chapel of Moody Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Presley and the Rev. Buddy Sarvis officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta.
