A Memorial Scholarship for paraprofessionals will be awarded in May by the Griffin-Spalding Retired Educators Association. To qualify, paraprofessionals must be currently enrolled in a teacher education program or accepted into one. All principals have been given applications and guidelines. The deadline is April 25, 2008.
Mayfling Arts and Crafts Festival. Celebrating its 25th Anniversary at City Park beginning at 8:30 a.m. April 25. Mayfling will continue at 6 p.m. April 26, with the annual chess tournament and Texas Hold’em at the Community Center in City Park. On April 27, the Mayfling Festival will begin at 11 a.m. and close at 5 p.m. Sunday’s events will include the Mayfling Classic and Muscle Car Show, hosted by Southern Cruisers, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be a live concert at 2 p.m. with Adam Tucker. James S. Boynton Chapter, United Daughters of The Confederacy, will hold an observance of Confederate Memorial Day at 2 p.m. April 26 in Stonewall Cemetery. The chapter will also observe the 110th anniversary of the chapter. The public is invited.
