The Griffin Police Department (GPD) responded around 5 p.m. Tuesday to a call in the area of Thurman Street and Quiet Hill Apartments in reference to a “shots fired” call. Two vehicles were discovered that had been on the receiving end of the shots and police were forced to direct traffic away from the area just off N. Hill St.
According to Lt. Tony Thomason, a GPD investigator, the investigation revealed evidence of a gang-style conflict between a group from the eastern area of Griffin and a group from the southern area of Griffin.
One of the hit vehicles was involved in the conflict. The other vehicle was occupied by an innocent victim and not involved in the situation, Thomason said.
Four individuals are being investigated as suspects and possibly as many as eight people are subject to arrest for their involvement in the incident.
No one was physically injured by the gunfire.
