Bears get squeezed by Eagles

COLLEGE PARK, Ga. ” The Griffin Bears had two leads and more hits in their game Friday against the North Clayton Eagles, but they lost the game anyway.

With the game tied a four in the bottom of the fifth, North Clayton squeezed a runner home from third base to get the go-ahead run and eventually win the game, 5-4.

Griffin (8-8 overall, 7-2 in Region 4-AAAA) had its season-best five-game win streak snapped. Jeremy Holcomb pitched five innings, striking out 10, walking two and hitting one batter. He also singled in the contest.

Jacoby Beckham had three hits (including a double), Telvin Nash homered and Matt Sorrow doubled for Griffin.

Theo Tramontana and Marcus Waller also singled for the Bears.
