The Griffin Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) executed eight drug-related search warrants inside Griffin city limits between Nov. 5 and Nov. 12, according to a GPD news release.

The search warrants concluded the SIU’s Operation Trick or Treat, which had started on July 2. They led to eight dug-related charges and the seizure of 25 grams of crack cocaine, 10 ounces of marijuana and a 12-gauge shotgun.

The Spalding County Sheriff’s Office, the GPD Crime Suppression Unit, the GPD Warrant Division, the GPD Crime Scene Unit, state probation and the United States Marshals Service assisted in the round-up of the operation.

The following individuals were apprehended as a result of the execution of the search warrants:

Codoven Stanford was arrested for possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.

Patricia Matthews was arrested for possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana more than an ounce and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Dexter Beck was arrested for possession of marijuana.

Mishon Andrews was arrested for possession of marijuana.

Andretti Martin was arrested for possession of marijuana.

Kenneth Jones was arrested for possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of cocaine.

Annie Jones was arrested for possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of cocaine.

All offenders were transported to the Spalding County Jail.

The search warrants were executed at 514 E. Tinsley Ave., 748 E. Chappell St., 707 E. Solomon St., 334 N. 19th St., 519 McKneeley St., Apartment 2, 1202 D.F. Fuller Drive, 1100 W. College St. Extension, Apartment B-2 and 328 N. First St.

“We believe that these arrests will have a serious impact on the local drug trade and other crimes,” said Cpl. Tishe Dyer, who is part of the SIU along with Capt. Jeff Mason, Lt. Mike Richardson and Sgt. Curtis Keys. “We appreciate the assistance of concerned citizens in bringing drug violators to our attention and making this operation a win for Griffin’s citizens.”

An undercover sale case operation within Griffin city limits was also part of Operation Trick of Treat. During the sale portion, the Special Investigations Unit made 67 cases for Violation of the Georgia Controlled Substance Act (VGCSA) — nine for the sale of marijuana, 57 for the sale of cocaine and one for theft by taking.

These offenders were arrested as a result of the sale cases: Charles Alsobrooks (sale of marijuana), Sirbryant Andrews (five counts of sale of cocaine), Charles Bell (sale of counterfeit substance), Dexter Berry (two counts of sale of cocaine), Lamont Calloway (one count of sale of cocaine, one count of theft by deception), David Combs (sale of marijuana), Jarmond Curry (four counts of sale of cocaine), Reginald Dennis (four counts of sale of cocaine), Jermaine Dugger (two counts of sale of cocaine), Jason Foster (three counts of sale of cocaine), Wesley Geiger (sale of cocaine), Lanora Holloway (sale of cocaine and theft by taking), Shedrick Howard (sale of marijuana), Kenneth Jones (sale of cocaine), Lorenzo Jones (sale of cocaine), Chesry Mathis (three counts of sale of cocaine), Montarius McCune (sale of cocaine), William Middleton (sale of cocaine), George Phillips (sale of cocaine), juvenile, 15 years old, (sale of marijuana), David Robinson (sale of cocaine), John Taylor (sale of cocaine), Victor Vandergriff (sale of cocaine), Zachary Warren (three counts of sale of marijuana) and Hilton Jackson (sale of cocaine).

Operation Trick or Treat was just one operation in a continuing succession of operations to combat the illegal drug trade in Griffin, said Cpl. Bryan Clanton.

“This is another of our initiatives that has been successful. We will continue to be a detriment to those who profit from the sale of illegal narcotics,” Clanton said.

Thanks to the GPD for getting a few more off the street. You are doing your part now let's see if the court system can and will do their part in keeping them locked up.
