A 12-foot-tall snowman towered in front of the Buddy’s Shell station on Zebulon Road. Buddy Brannon, one of the owners of the station, said his four children built a similar snowman during the Blizzard of 1993. “They wanted to build one bigger than the one of ‘93, which they did,” he said. It took the four Brannon children — and the two daughters’ husbands — two and half to three hours of labor to build the snowman. All of its pieces were rolled by hand and a forklift was needed to get the head on top.
Griffin and surrounding areas were blanketed with up to five inches of snow Friday. For some, it was a time of fun and games; for others, it was a time of danger and risk.
