Comments in 'My Two Cents' were cowardly

Editor’s note: This letter is a response to a comment that appeared in “My Two Cents.”

To the editor: I’m happy you find some comfort, even if it’s only in taking unsigned potshots at the county commission. I happen to be highly educated, and it’s not micromanaging if no one is managing when you arrive. You sicken me, almost as much as this Circus Maximus approach to journalism “My Two Cents” promotes. Neither offer useful suggestions, only a bully pulpit for gutless hundred dollar millionaires and a last-ditch pulp approach attempting to keep a failed newspapaper solvent.

Your type have always looked down your noses at anyone that didn’t share your hive mind mentality, and find it far easier to mock what you fear: real people representing real people. Adding to this fear is the fact you are an endangered species. I’d estimate your number at less than 200, so perhaps you should begin a countrywide breeding program, lest your precious vein of sarcasm die out entirely. At least pandas are interesting.

I am always easily found by anyone in five counties, so should you wish to grind an ax, feel free to call or come by my business any time. Many folks have, and together we’ve resolved problems that had gone on for years.

Otherwise, kindly keep your cowardly comments to yourself. As for the GDN, you only add to the problem with this feature. Your paper has a responsibility to this community as well, and “My Two Cents” is the moral equivalent of handing out matches to children.
