The tournament will be Texas two-man Scramble with a Calcutta. Deadline to register for the fund-raiser is March 19.

VFW GOLF TOURNEY: VFW Post 5448, located at 1205 West Poplar Street in Griffin, Ga., will host its eighth annual Johnny Pierce Memorial Golf Tournament 8:30 a.m., Sunday, May 2 at the Griffin City Golf Course.
Cost for is $60 per player and includes cart, green fees, lunch and social. Deadline to enter is 6 p.m., April 27. Make checks payable to VFW Post 5448.The tournament will be a standard Fort Lauderdale, with teams being drawn by the Golf Committee. Proceeds from the tournament benefit veterans programs supported by VFW Post 5448 and Ladies Auxiliary in Memory of Johnny Pierce.
Social and team introductions to be held 6:30 p.m., May 1. Lunch and awards ceremony follows the tournament. Spouses and/or dates are invited to attend all functions at VFW Post 5448.

BAIN PROCTOR AWARD: The Spalding County Parks and Recreation Department is accepting nominations for the annual Bain Proctor Award for Volunteerism and will continue until the end of the business day March 15.
Any resident of Spalding County who has volunteered his/her service to the betterment of the community may be nominated for this award. The candidate may not be paid or otherwise compensated for their service.
The late Proctor epitomized volunteer service in his 23 years as a member of the Spalding County community. He led by example, volunteering his time and service. To obtain a nomination packet, call the SCPRD’s Pandy Bass at (770) 467-4750.

FCA LIONS GOLF TEAM GOES TO 2-0: The Faith Christian Academy golf team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 216-234 victory Monday against Horizon Christian Academy at the Lanier Golf Club in Cumming, Ga.
Senior team captain Matthew Jackson paced the way with a 45 in the nine-hole match. Other top scores for the Lions came from Chris Flake (48) and Jake Farrell (59). Eric Berryman and Justin Lewis also saw action for FCA.
FCA opened the season two weeks ago with a 196-204 victory against Skipstone Academy in a match at Sun City Peachtree.
