“We want to have any music that’s upbeat and gets your adrenaline flowing,” said Casey Moody.
“The music gets us pumped up before our at-bats — it definitely gets us going,” Seigler said.
KEEPING THE PACE: The Spalding Jags baseball team is one off the pace from last season. Last year, the Jags went 5-0 before their first loss, which was to Rutland. Right now, Spalding is 3-1. The Jags had an eight-game win streak last season.
SEE YA: Spalding’s 2010 schedule is pretty weird. After a March 19 home game against Region 4-AAA foe Jackson-Atlanta, the Jags will play their next 8 games, all against region opponents, on the road.
They start with a trip to College Park, Ga. to play Woodward Academy on March 22 and finish the road swing with a trip to Macon to face the Rutland Hurricanes on April 9.
The next day, the Jags begin a five-game homestand starting with a 1 p.m. game against Crisp County and ending with an April 23 home contest against region foe Woodland-Stockbridge at 6 p.m.
CAN WE GET A GAME?: The Spalding High baseball team may deal with the rain well, but the school’s golf team is probably sick of it. The Jags golfers have had 7 rainouts (and a snow-out) in a row and have yet to play this season.
KEEP ROLLING, ROLLING, ROLLING: Both the Griffin High boys and girls soccer teams have gotten off to undefeated starts this season. The Lady Bears beat Jackson last week to improve to 4-0 overall while the Bears are 3-0-2 overall and 1-0 in Region 4-AAAA play so far.
Last year, the Bears won one match on the field, a 4-4 (3-2 PKs) win over non-region foe Mundy’s Mill.
Griffin did have a forfeit victory (of sorts) when the referees didn’t show up for a game the Bears were scheduled to play against the Stockbridge Tigers, a Region 4-AAAA opponent.
RANKED TEAMS IN TOWN: The Spalding High girls tennis team and the Spalding girls soccer team are both state ranked right now. The SHS girls tennis team (3-0) is ranked third and the SHS girls soccer team (2-0, 1-0 region) is ranked fourth.
Woodward Academy is the No. 1 state-ranked girls tennis team in Class AAA with a record of 6-0-1, followed by St. Pius X with a 3-1 mark on the season.
St. Pius, Woodward and Creekview are ranked above the SHS girls soccer team.
