Three local teams recently won Georgia Parks and Recreation tournaments, while two also won District 4 tournaments and another finished District 4 runner-up.

March 12-14

GRPA Men’s Industrial State Tournament in Augusta

n Arves 63, Wal-Mart 52 (Championship Game): Jeffery Wimbush Jr. scored 30 points and Emanuel Wimbush added 23 to lead Arves past Wal-Mart and to the state championship.

n Arves 77, Augusta Parks and Rec 42 (Semifinals): Emanuel Wimbush scored 16, Jeffery Wimbush Jr. added 13 and Jeffery Wimbush Sr. chipped in with 11 to lead Arves past Augusta Parks and Recreation and into the title game.

n Arves 87, Legacy 61 (Quarterfinals): Emanuel Wimbush scored 22 points, Jeffery Wimbush Jr. added 20 and Jeffery Wimbush Sr. chipped in with 17 to help Arves advance.

n Arves 99, Procter & Gamble 98 (Opening Round): Jeffery Wimbush Jr. scored 43 points, Emanuel Wimbush added 23 and Antiard Duranham chipped in with 15 as Arves edged Procter & Gamble to advance.

GRPA 10-Under Girl’s State Tournament in College Park

n Spalding Lady Grizzlies 32, DeKalb County 27 (Championship Game): Kelsey Smikes scored 7 points, and Kiana Banks, Ka’Leah Davis and Tyleslie Johnson scored 6 points each to lead the Lady Grizzlies to the championship.

n Spalding Lady Grizzlies 39, Whitfield County 24 (Semifinals): Kiana Banks scored 16 points, Rashunda Johnson added 7 and Ka’Leah Davis chipped in with 5 to lead the Lady Grizzlies past Whitfield County and into the title game.

n Spalding County Grizzlies 32, City of Atlanta NA (Opening Round): Rashunda Johnson scored 14 points, Kiana Banks added 8 and Kelsey Smikes chipped in with 6 to lead the Spalding Lady Grizzlies.

GRPA 8-Under Girl’s State Tournament in Rome

n Spalding Lady Grizzlies 33, NA 11 (Championship Game): Dais’ya Reid scored 14 points, Averyana Nelson 8, Kayla Milner 7 and Zacoria Berry 4 to lead the Spalding County Grizzlies to the championship.

n Spalding County Grizzlies 28, Gordon County 10 (Semifinals): Dais’ya Reid scored 16 points, and Kayla Milner, Averyana Nelson and Zacoria Berry 4 each to lead the Lady Grizzlies past Gordon County and into the title game.

n Spalding Lady Grizzlies 26, Rome II 7 (Opening Round): Dais’ya Reid scored 12 points, Kayla Milner 6, and Zacoria Berry and Averyana Nelson 4 each to lead the Lady Grizzlies.

GRPA 10-Under Boy’s District Tournament in Griffin

n College Park II 52, Spalding Grizzlies 48 (Championship Game): Corderius Hastings score 19, Naricuss Driver 12 and Jamoriae Maines 9 to lead the Grizzlies.

n Spalding Grizzlies 53, East Point II 21 (Semifinals): Corderius Hastings and Jalon Driver scored 11 points each, and Jamoriae Maines and Naricuss Drivers added 8 each for the Grizzlies.

n Spalding Grizzlies 59, College Park I 14 (Opening Round): Corderius Hastings scored 12, Aadmie Marshall 11 and Jamoriae Maines 10 to lead the Grizzlies.

GRPA 8-Under Boy’s District Tournament in College Park

n Spalding Grizzlies 24, College Park 20 (Championship): Jacarlin Dennis scored 7 points, Michael Webb 6 and Jerquez Miller 4 to lead the Grizzlies.

n Spalding Grizzlies 31, East Point 16 (Opening Round): Jerquez Miller and Jacarlin Dennis scored 8 points each and Terrance Clark added 6 to lead the Grizzlies.

n Arves 71, Deco Star 61 (Championship): Jeffery Wimbush Jr. scored 34 points and Broderick Mangham added 12 to lead Arves.

n Arves 63, Wal-Mart 59 (Semifinals): Jeffery Wimbush Sr. and Jeffery Wimbush Jr. scored 21 points each, and Antiard Duranham added 12 to lead Arves past Wal-Mart and into the title game.

n Arves 83, Carters 44 (Opening Round): Jeffery Wimbush Jr. scored 36 points and Jeffery Wimbush Sr. added 30 as Arves rolled to an opening-round victory.
