Geneline Prince scored a hat trick to lead the Griffin High girls soccer team in a 6-0 win Tuesday against visiting Troup County in the regular season finale.

Griffin (13-2 overall) won its second in a row. Only a night earlier, Taylor Winslow scored to lead the team to a 1-0 win at Alcovy in the Lady Bears’ Region 4-AAAA finale. GHS keeper Stephanie Stone had 7 saves against Alcovy, including one save on a penalty kick.

Rounding out GHS’s scoring Tuesday were Alex Smith, Taylor Winslow and Tori Hornsby. Assists came from Winslow, Hornsby and Sarah Hill.

Griffin head coach Jerry Fields said the Lady Bears will likely lose a three-way tiebreaker for first in Region 4-AAAA with Ola and Dutchtown.

While Griffin and Ola have 6-1 records and Dutchtown was carrying a 5-1 record heading into its region finale tonight against Stockbridge (1-7) — all three will likely finish with 6-1 records. Since Ola beat Griffin, Griffin beat Dutchtown and Dutchton beat Ola, Fields said the next tiebreaker was fewest goals against head-to-head between the three teams.

In that case, Ola has allowed one, Dutchtown two and Griffin four. That makes Griffin the region’s third seed.
