Bo Duke’s seventh annual Old School Classic is Saturday at Taylor Street Middle School.

The day will begin with a three-point contest at 10 a.m. The Old School game will take place at 11 a.m.

Various Griffinites will be recognized by Duke in a ceremony at noon for their contributions to the community.

Teams participating include: Jackson’s Machine, Southside, Envision Barber and Salon, the Flat, Eastside Boys, Thomaston Ballers, Wimbush Runners, The last Dragon, Duketation and the Macon Force.

ATLANTA JUNIOR GOLF EVENT COMING TO GRIFFIN: Atlanta Junior Golf will hold its lone local event this season on Monday at the Griffin Country Club.

Players will tee off between 8-11 a.m., in a multitude of 9 and 18-hole division for boys and girls.

The event is open to the public free of charge.

FREE SUMMER CAMPS: The Spalding County Parks and Recreations Department will partner with a number of organizations and individuals to offer a host of free summer youth sports camps:

n Football Camp: June 8-10 for ages 5-12 from 9 a.m., until 12 noon at City Park’s Watkins Field. Sponsored by Spalding High School. (Registration is on site)

n Baseball Camp: June 14-16 for ages 6-12 from 9 a.m., until 12 noon at AMBUCS Park. Sponsored by Spalding County Little League. (Registration is on site)

n Girls Basketball Camp: June 15-17 for ages 6-14 from 9 a.m., until 12 noon at Spalding High. Sponsored by Spalding High. (Registration is on site)

n Soccer Camp: June 21 for 12-and-under from 5:30-08:30 p.m., at Tyus Park. Sponsored by the Griffin Youth Soccer Association and Griffin High Soccer. (Registration is on site)

n Jumpin’ Joe Ward’s Basketball Camps: July 6-9 for ages 10-and-under and July 12-15 for ages 11-and-up, from 9 am., until 4 p.m., at Griffin High. Breakfast served 7-8 a.m., and lunch served 11 a.m., until 12:30 p.m.. Sponsored by Joe Ward Sr. (Registration is on site)

n Golf (Session II): July 6-16: For ages 8-18 behind City Park Community Center 8:30 a.m., until 12 noon. Sponsored by the Unlimited Door Foundation. Clubs and balls will be provided. (Pre-registration at SCPRD or City Park is required)
