— To the gentleman from Hampton. Take care of Hampton problems instead of sticking your nose in Spalding County. I know for a fact that Hampton has a lot of problems themselves, starting with downtown parking.

— I watched with great interest “America’s Most Wanted” when the story about Mr. Baker from Griffin was featured. I turned the television off when the only thing reported about Griffin was the location and extremely high dropout rate for the high schools. How embarrassing.

— I see more smokers around Griffin with a lack of courtesy than anywhere in our area. If you must smoke, at least don’t stand beside the entrance to a restaurant or store. Can’t you move away from the door so that the rest of us don’t have to walk through your cloud of smoke just to go inside? Some of us have medical conditions that require us to avoid smoke and other pollutants.

— How about requiring that all Spalding County and Griffin Board of Commissioners along with the management staff from each be required to attend the Griffin Citizens’ Government Academy? Maybe they would learn how to do their jobs the right way.

— Does anyone believe Dick Morrow would have paid his taxes if it had not been for the news media? The tax commissioner should be embarrassed the media had to do her job. Maybe the media should look farther to see how the tax commissioner office is run and who gets special treatment. Is the tax office ever audited?

— I don’t care what anybody else says, but I go by the Bible and my Bible tells me that it’s wrong for a man to wear women’s clothes and for a woman to wear a man’s clothes.

— There is a writing that should be honored over the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Genesis 11:1-9 should handle the immigration situation and Romans 1:27-32 should handle the same-sex marriage issue.

— Cynthia Tucker, columnist for the AJC, had an indifferent column in Sunday’s edition. Was she applying for an assistant to the secretary of education in the Obama administration? Maybe she wants to be a guest host for HLN’s “The Joy Behar Show.”

— Was a terrible tragedy that the medical team of volunteers in Afghanistan were murdered by the Taliban, simply because they were Christians. I hope any other medical professionals who wish to donate their time and ability to help needy people will consider doing their work in this country. There is a need here and most Americans do not hate Christians.

— What in the world do the Muslims want? Now, it seems they want to replace GMT, the world clock, with of all things, “mecca time.” Go figure. Everyone wants something and control of people’s lives. They say their clock will be so much bigger. Get outta here.

— When I hear that any politician holding public office, and the responsibility that goes with that duty, is not paying their taxes, it makes me wonder about other questionable activity. They have to know that overdue taxes are public information. If they don’t care that their lack of responsibility can be discovered, it would seem that they feel that they don’t have to follow the law like the average person.

— Gotta love those Griffin football fans. Don’t show up to support the team until they get into the semifinals, then they want to ride on their coattails and criticize coaches for things they know absolutely nothing about. These men do a great job and sacrifice more than you could ever imagine for the success of their team. Why don’t you try supporting them, or better yet, applying for their position when they are gone, and see how well you do?

— Is the Citizens’ Government Academy the place you go to learn how to build a pocket park and waste taxpayer money?

— We all agree, property assessments are too high in Griffin-Spalding County. The more we give, the more they take, and I have had it with all the wasteful spending, supposedly for a better quality of life, but where is it for us law-abiding taxpayers? Quit griping and let’s get results. All of us property owners need to band together and not pay our property taxes until they are lowered. The problem with that is no one will stick together.

— OK. The comment about “M*A*S*H” and Corporal Klinger has pushed me over the edge. I have to comment. My Two Cents is nothing more than a forum to show the world the ignorance of the people in Griffin.

— I see where the city of Griffin’s Citizens’ Government Academy (that sounds impressive) is offering a 10-week course — to help citizens have a better understanding of the way the local governments work. Shucks, you don’t need 10 weeks to do that. Just go to one of the local government meetings and you will find out in about 10 minutes.

— Maybe our local officials can’t get the senior citizens center done because they are trying to communicate with each other by using the 800 MHz system.

To the writer who said that the Bible should override the Constitution and Bill of Rights....if that's the case, the let's use Deuteronomy 22:13-21 and stone women who are not virgins on their wedding night. And Deuteronomy 21:18-21 would be perfect for those pesky children who just won't listen. And what about rapist...maybe we should follow Deuteronomy 22:28-29 and have the rapist pay the victims father and then marry the girl. Let's go ahead and make divorce illegal, after all Matthew 19:6 forbids it.

I am just curious as to how can the former Mayor of Griffin and current city commissioner of Griffin can have an office within the city limits of Griffin that looks as unmaintained as Dick Morrow. If anyone else's place of business had the paint peeling off the window trim they would be paid a visit by the legendary and often MIA code enforcement officer. It is obvious that this town and county give preferential treatment to certain individuals. The curious part to me is it is also the same building that houses M&M Development Co. If Mr. Mobley can afford to own as much property as he does as well as Mr. Morrow then they can afford a simple paint job. I personally am offended that this corruption runs rampant and because of fear of reprisal from local officials the citizens don't say anything. So I say grow a pair Griffinites and stand up to the corruption of the Yahoos who make us do right. Mr. Morrow and Mr. Mobley clean up your mess like the rest of us have to do. As far as property tax goes all you have to do is ask for an individual survey when you get your meeting with the tax office. An individual survey is not the same as an overall revaluation countywide thus the newly enacted bill does not stop this from being pushed forward. That being said the time to get this done has a short window of opportunity as the law is very specific as to how long after evals are sent out to file an appeal.

To the morning tail-gating lady driving a kid to Futral in a black SUV w/ a teacher tag: Hey, I drive the speed limit 'cause I am 71 and my reflexes have slowed way down. More importantly, I want my grand kid to arrive safely. All you have to do, Miss Tail Gater, is beep and you will not have to tail-gate or pass me illegally.

PS I brake for dogs, cats, stop signs, and all kids waiting on buses!
